What is the golden hour?
The golden hour is the period soon after sunrise and just before sunset when the Sun is low (roughly 0° to 6° above the horizon). The light is warm, soft and diffuse and shadows are long — ideal for portraits and landscapes.
The blue hour comes when the Sun is already below the horizon (about −6° to −4°) and the sky takes on a deep blue tone. The golden hour is when the Sun is still up and the light is golden.
